Kermit Blount was born on May 16, 1958. He is a well-known American football coach. He has coached college football teams for many years.
Blount played football himself as a quarterback for the Winston-Salem State Rams from 1976 to 1979. He was a teammate of Timmy Newsome, who later played in the National Football League (NFL).

Coaching Career Highlights
Kermit Blount has had a long and successful career in college football. He coached at three different universities.
Coaching at Winston-Salem State
Blount became the head football coach at his old school, Winston-Salem State University, in 1993. He coached the Rams until 2009. During his time there, his teams won two championships in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) in 1999 and 2000. His teams also played in the Pioneer Bowl in 1999 and 2000.
He holds the record as the winningest coach in the history of the Winston-Salem State football program, with a record of 91 wins, 87 losses, and 3 ties. Coach Blount also helped several of his players, like Richard Huntley, Oronde Gadsden, Tory Woodbury, and William Hayes, go on to play in the NFL.
After the 2009 season, Blount stepped down as head coach. He then worked as a special assistant to the athletic director at Winston-Salem State.
Coaching at Delaware State
On February 3, 2011, Kermit Blount was named the new coach at Delaware State University. He coached the Delaware State Hornets until 2014.
Coaching at Johnson C. Smith
From 2015 to 2021, Blount coached the Johnson C. Smith Golden Bulls in Charlotte, North Carolina. His contract with Johnson C. Smith was not renewed after the 2021 season.
