Tory Woodbury was born on July 12, 1978. He is a former American football player who played as a quarterback and wide receiver. Today, he is a coach, working as the special teams coordinator and tight ends coach for the Howard Bison. He started these coaching roles in 2024.

Tory Woodbury began his professional football journey after college. He was not chosen in the main draft but was signed by the New York Jets. Later in his career, he won a Super Bowl championship in 2021 with the Los Angeles Rams. He was part of their coaching staff at that time.

College Football Career

Tory Woodbury played college football at Winston-Salem State University (WSSU). He was a very good player there. He set a school record by throwing for 4,536 yards. He also scored 40 touchdowns by passing the ball.

Besides throwing, he was also good at running with the ball. He ran for 1,020 yards and scored 20 running touchdowns. In total, his 60 combined touchdowns (from throwing and running) tied another school record.

Professional Playing Career

After college, the New York Jets signed Tory Woodbury in 2001. He played as both a quarterback and a wide receiver for the Jets. After some time, he left the Jets.

He later played for other teams, including the Buffalo Bills in 2006. He was a versatile player who could play different positions on the field.

Coaching Career

After his playing days, Tory Woodbury started coaching. On July 22, 2015, he became the offensive coordinator for the Johnson C. Smith Golden Bulls football team.

In 2020, Woodbury joined the Los Angeles Rams as an assistant coach. Before this, he had worked for the Rams for three years as a scout, helping them find new players. He was part of the Rams coaching staff when they won Super Bowl LVI in 2021.

Later, on July 24, 2023, he was hired by the Houston Roughnecks. Then, on March 12, 2024, Tory Woodbury became the special teams coordinator for the Howard Bison. He also coaches the tight ends for the team.
