Kerrville is a small, quiet place in Shelby County, Tennessee, United States. It's called an "unincorporated community" because it doesn't have its own city government or mayor. Instead, it's part of the larger county. Kerrville is located about 3.5 miles north of Millington. It's also close to the border of Tipton County, near the towns of Atoka and Munford. The community was named after Andrew Hart Kerr. He moved to the area and bought a very large piece of land, about 5,000 acres!

The Story of Kerrville: How It Began

Kerrville was first planned out around 1873. This happened along the Paducah and Memphis Railroad, which is now part of the Canadian National Railway. In 1874, Andrew H. Kerr gave 44 acres of his land to the railroad company. He wanted them to build a railway station and a small town there. That's how the community got its name, Kerrville!

Many of the original streets planned for the town don't exist anymore. But some old roads are still around today. For example, "Old Randolph Road" is now called Kerrville-Rosemark Road south of the railroad tracks. North of the tracks, it's called Sullivan Road. The spot where the old railroad station was is now part of Gin Road.

Kerrville Today: A Quiet Community

Today, Kerrville is mostly a quiet area with a few homes. You can also find a barbecue restaurant there. The center of the community is where several roads meet. These roads are Mudville Road, Kerrville-Rosemark Road, Old Tipton Road, and Sullivan Road. Kerrville is also less than half a mile from U.S. Route 51, a major highway. The area is part of a special zone that Millington might expand into someday.
