Keventers Milkshake is a popular Indian brand known for its delicious milkshakes. It started way back in 1925! After a break in the 1970s, the brand made a big comeback starting in 2014. Today, Keventers has over 200 places across India where you can grab a milkshake. They are famous for their classic and custom-made milkshakes, and they say they were the first milkshake brand to be made in India.

The Beginning of Keventers

Keventers Milkshake was started in 1925 by Edward Keventer. He was a dairy expert from Denmark. The British government asked him to come to India in 1889 to help improve the dairy industry.

Edward Keventer moved to India and, in 1894, he bought a dairy farm in a place called Aligarh. He made this farm very successful. Because of this success, he opened another dairy farm in 1925 in New Delhi, India. Within ten years, Keventer had opened more plants in cities like Delhi, Aligarh, Calcutta, and Darjeeling.

A New Owner and Growth

After Edward Keventer passed away in 1937, a businessman named Ram Krishna Dalmia bought the brand in 1940. Dalmia was already a distributor for Keventers. He expanded the company to make more products like powdered milk, condensed milk, milkshakes, and ice creams.

The company grew to have 48 distribution points around the Delhi area. Keventers also became a big supplier of milk and other dairy products to the Indian Army for many years, until the 1970s.

Why Keventers Closed Down (for a while)

In the 1970s, the main Keventers plant in Chanakyapuri was closed by the Indian government. This happened because the government wanted to expand the area for embassies there. After this, Ram Krishna Dalmia became interested in other businesses and focused less on Keventers.

A few Keventers shops stayed open, run by some of its distributors. But the brand was not as big as it used to be.

Keventers Today

Today, Keventers is owned by Super Milk Products Private Limited, a company based in New Delhi. This company also makes other dairy products. Keventers is well-known for its classic and special milkshakes. Many customers also love their unique glass milkshake bottles with foil tops, which they can take home after finishing their drink.

The Brand's Comeback

In 2014, Agastya Dalmia, who is the grandson of Ram Krishna Dalmia, teamed up with his friend Aman Arora. They wanted to bring the Keventers brand back to life. They even used some old milkshake recipes that Ram Krishna Dalmia had created!

Agastya and Aman didn't have much experience running restaurants. They tried to get a restaurant owner named Sohrab Sitaram to join them, but he said no at first. Still, Dalmia and Arora went ahead and opened their first new Keventers shop in Delhi in 2014. However, it didn't do well and closed in less than a year. Later on, Sohrab Sitaram did join them as a partner, and the brand really took off.

Quality and Expansion

In 2019, the company had a disagreement with one of its partners who was selling Keventers products. The company felt that the partner was using lower quality milk. A judge involved in the matter even mentioned that he had tried Keventers milkshakes from different places and felt they were "not as good as they used to be." The judge suggested that Keventers and the partner should try to solve their disagreement through discussion. After this, some customers shared their thoughts on social media, expressing their disappointment with the product.

By 2021, Keventers had grown a lot. It had over 200 kiosks, cafes, and restaurants across India. You can also find Keventers in other countries like Dubai (United Arab Emirates), Nairobi (Kenya), and Nepal.
