Kevin Dunn, born on August 24, 1955, is an American actor. He is known for playing supporting roles in many movies and TV shows since the 1980s.
He has played many memorable characters. These include Alan Reed in the movie Dave, Colonel Hicks in the 1998 film Godzilla, and Stuart Abernathy in Small Soldiers. Kevin Dunn also played Ron Witwicky, the father of Sam Witwicky, in the Transformers movie series. More recently, he was Ben Cafferty in the TV show Veep. He also appeared in True Detective in 2014 and The Mosquito Coast in 2021.

Kevin Dunn was born in Chicago, Illinois, on August 24, 1955. His father, John Dunn, was a musician and poet. His mother, Margaret, was a nurse. Kevin has a sister, Nora Dunn, who is also an actress and comedian. He also has a brother, Michael, who is a history teacher and football coach.
Kevin grew up in a Catholic family. His family background includes Irish, English, Scottish, and German roots. He went to Illinois Wesleyan University and graduated in 1977. Later, in 2008, the university gave him an honorary doctorate degree.

Before working in movies and TV, Kevin Dunn performed in many live plays. He acted with theater groups in Chicago and nearby areas. These included Northlight, Remains, Wisdom Bridge, and Goodman.
He was a regular on the TV show Samantha Who? from 2007 to 2009. He also played Ron Witwicky in the Transformers movies directed by Michael Bay.
Kevin Dunn has been in many popular films. Some of these are Small Soldiers, Stir of Echoes, Godzilla, Snake Eyes, and Ghostbusters II. He also appeared in Dave, Beethoven's 2nd, and Hot Shots!.
