Markeyvius LaShun Cathey (born August 3, 1997), who is known by his stage name Key Glock, is an American rapper and songwriter. He is the cousin of the late rapper Young Dolph. Key Glock signed with Young Dolph's record label, Paper Route Empire, and released his popular mixtape, Glock Season, in 2017.
His first studio album, Yellow Tape (2020), was a big success. It reached number 14 on the Billboard 200, a chart that tracks the most popular albums in the U.S. The album also earned a gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), which means it sold over 500,000 copies.
His second album, Yellow Tape 2 (2021), did even better, climbing to number seven on the chart. It featured the hit single "Ambition for Cash", which went multi-platinum. After Young Dolph passed away, Key Glock released the song "Proud" in his honor. This song was his first to appear on the Billboard Hot 100, a list of the top 100 songs in the country. His third album, Glockoma 2 (2023), included the popular song "Let's Go", which also made it onto the Hot 100 chart.

Early Life and Influences
Markeyvius LaShun Cathey was born in South Memphis on August 3, 1997. He had a difficult childhood. His mother was away for much of his early life, and his father was not always around. Because of this, he was raised by his grandmother and his aunt. Music became an important way for him to express himself and escape from his challenges.
Key Glock grew up listening to famous rappers like Gucci Mane and Lil Wayne. He has said that the group Three 6 Mafia was his biggest musical influence. He was also a huge fan of Project Pat, another rapper from Memphis. Key Glock has said that Project Pat's music had a major impact on him and even inspired some of his own hit songs.

Key Glock began his music career in 2016 when he released his first mixtape, Whole Lotta Errthang. In 2017, his cousin Young Dolph signed him to his record label, Paper Route Empire. This was a huge step for Key Glock. That same year, he released his second mixtape, Glock Season, through the label.
He and Young Dolph worked together on a collaborative album called Dum and Dummer. It was very successful, reaching number eight on the Billboard 200 chart. Their song "Major" also became a hit on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
Rise to Fame
After the success of Dum and Dummer, Key Glock and Young Dolph went on a tour in Europe, performing in cities like Manchester and London. In 2020, they started another tour in the United States called the "No Rules" Tour.
On January 31, 2020, Key Glock released his first studio album, Yellow Tape. It was a solo project with no other artists featured. The album was a hit, landing at number 14 on the Billboard 200. Later that year, he released another mixtape called Son of a Gun.
Recent Work
In 2021, Key Glock and Young Dolph teamed up again for a second album, Dum and Dummer 2. They released the single "Aspen" to announce the project. The album's cover art was inspired by the cartoon Beavis & Butthead. In November 2021, Key Glock released his second solo album, Yellow Tape 2.
Following the death of Young Dolph, Key Glock released the song "Proud" in January 2022 as a tribute to his cousin and mentor. The song was part of a special album called Long Live Young Dolph.
In February 2023, he released his third studio album, Glockoma 2. On March 13, 2025, Key Glock signed a new deal with Republic Records, a major record label. He then released his fourth album, Glockaveli, on May 2, 2025.
Personal Life
Key Glock was very close to his cousin, Young Dolph, who was also a famous rapper. After Young Dolph passed away in November 2021, Key Glock shared how much he meant to him, calling him his "brother, my cousin, and my mentor." To honor his memory, Key Glock got a tattoo of Young Dolph's face.
