Radric Delantic Davis (born February 12, 1980), known professionally as Gucci Mane, is an American rapper. He is famous for helping to create and popularize a style of hip hop music called trap music in the 2000s, along with other rappers like T.I. and Jeezy.
His first album, Trap House (2005), was released by an independent record company and became popular on the music charts. His song "Freaky Gurl" from his album Hard to Kill (2006) was his first song to appear on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. He later signed with Atlantic Records and released more successful albums.
Gucci Mane has released many studio albums and mixtapes throughout his career, which started in 2001. He also started his own record label, 1017 Records, in 2007. This label has helped launch the careers of artists like Young Thug and Waka Flocka Flame. He has worked with many famous musicians, including the Weeknd, Drake, Lil Wayne, and Selena Gomez. He is known for his big influence on underground hip hop music.

Early Life and Music Beginnings
Radric Delantic Davis was born on February 12, 1980, in Bessemer, Alabama. His parents were Ralph Everett Dudley, who worked at a power plant, and Vicky Jean Davis, a social worker and teacher. His family had a strong military background, with both his grandfathers serving in the military.
His mother, a teacher, taught him to read when he was very young. She also spent time teaching him from the Bible. Radric attended Jonesboro Elementary for kindergarten and his first few years of school. His older half-brother, Victor, introduced him to hip hop music when Radric was six years old. Victor took him to a concert featuring famous groups like Run-DMC and Beastie Boys.
When he was nine, Radric moved with his mother to Atlanta. They faced some challenges finding a stable home at first. Radric attended Cedar Grove Elementary School in East Atlanta. He was a good student and enjoyed being active, though he didn't play school sports.
Music Career Highlights
Early Albums: Trap House and Hard to Kill (2005–2006)
In 2005, Gucci Mane released his first album, Trap House. It included the song "Icy" with Young Jeezy. This album was very successful for an independent artist. It reached the top 20 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts.
His next album, Hard to Kill, came out in 2006. It featured the popular song "Freaky Gurl", which made it onto the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Growing Fame: Mixtapes and Major Albums (2007–2010)
Gucci Mane continued to release many mixtapes, which are collections of songs often shared for free. In 2007, he released his album Back to the Trap House. He also appeared on other artists' songs, like "Make Tha Trap Say Aye" by OJ da Juiceman.
In May 2009, Gucci Mane signed with Warner Bros. Records. He was featured on remixes of popular songs by artists like The Black Eyed Peas and Mariah Carey. He made 17 guest appearances on other artists' tracks in 2009 alone!
His second major studio album, The State vs. Radric Davis, was released in December 2009. It included hit singles like "Wasted" and "Lemonade." "Wasted" became his most successful song at the time, reaching number 36 on the Hot 100 chart.
New Labels and Collaborations (2010–2012)
After some changes, Gucci Mane decided to rename his record label to 1017 Brick Squad Records. His album, The Appeal: Georgia's Most Wanted, was released in September 2010. The first song from this album was "Gucci Time", which featured Swizz Beatz.
In March 2011, he released his EP (a shorter album) called The Return of Mr. Zone 6. It was his highest-charting EP, reaching number 18 on the Billboard 200. He also released a collaboration album with rapper Waka Flocka Flame called Ferrari Boyz in August 2011. This album debuted at number 21 on the Billboard 200. Later that year, he released another collaboration album, BAYTL, with rapper V-Nasty.
In February 2012, Gucci Mane released his Trap Back mixtape, which received good reviews. He followed this with more mixtapes, including I'm Up in May 2012 and Trap God in October 2012. These mixtapes featured collaborations with artists like Rick Ross and Future.
More Albums and Mixtapes (2013)
Gucci Mane continued to be very active in 2013. He released his mixtape Trap God 2 in February. He also put out several other mixtapes, including Free Bricks 2 with Young Scooter and EastAtlantaMemphis with Young Dolph.
He announced a new studio album called Trap House III, which was released in May 2013. He also planned another album, Mr. GuWop, which was set to feature Marilyn Manson.
During this time, there were some disagreements between artists on his 1017 Brick Squad label. Gucci Mane later apologized for some of his online comments, explaining he was going through a difficult time. He then released his tenth studio album, The State vs. Radric Davis II: The Caged Bird Sings, on Christmas Day 2013.
Continued Music Releases (2014–2016)
Gucci Mane continued to release a lot of music. In 2014, he put out a free collaborative mixtape with Young Thug called Young Thugga Mane La Flare. He also released several digital albums, including The Purple Album (with Young Thug), The Green Album (with Migos), and The White Album (with Peewee Longway), known together as World War 3D.
He released his eighth digital album, Trap House 4, in July 2014. He also collaborated with Young Dolph and PeeWee Longway on an album called Felix Brothers. In total, he released over twelve projects in 2014.
In 2015, he released his 14th mixtape, 1017 Mafia: Incarcerated, and the third part of his Brick Factory series, Brick Factory 3. He also released a surprise EP called Views From Zone 6. Later that year, he released a triple digital album: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner, followed by an EP called Dessert. He released the final part of his Trap House series, Trap House 5 (The Last Chapter), and his tenth project of the year, King Gucci. He ended 2015 with the mixtape East Atlanta Santa 2.
Comeback and Chart Success (2016–2018)
In May 2016, Gucci Mane was released from a period of confinement. The very next day, he released a new song called "First Day Out tha Feds". He also appeared on the song "Champions" from GOOD Music. In June 2016, he performed his first concert since his release.
He announced his ninth studio album, Everybody Looking, which came out in July 2016. The album was very successful, reaching number two on the Billboard 200 chart. He also headlined a concert in Atlanta called "Gucci & Friends," featuring artists like Future and Drake.
In September 2016, Gucci Mane worked with Rae Sremmurd on the song "Black Beatles". This song became a huge hit, reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart! It was his first song to top this chart. Billboard magazine called it an "unexpected commercial high point" for Gucci Mane.
He released Woptober in October 2016 and a project called Free Bricks 2 with Future. In November 2016, Gucci Mane and Lil Uzi Vert released a collaborative EP, "1017 vs. The World". His tenth studio album, "The Return of East Atlanta Santa", was released in December 2016.
In May 2017, Gucci Mane released Droptopwop, a collaborative mixtape with Metro Boomin. He then announced his eleventh studio album, Mr. Davis, which was released in October 2017. This album included the song "I Get the Bag" featuring Migos, which reached number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming his most successful song as a solo artist.
Two months later, he released his twelfth studio album, El Gato: The Human Glacier. He then announced his thirteenth album, Evil Genius, which was released in December 2018.
Recent Projects (2019–Present)
In 2019, Gucci Mane released two studio albums: Delusions of Grandeur and Woptober II. In July 2020, he released the So Icy Summer compilation album. He also collaborated with rapper Mulatto on the song "Muwop".
In October 2020, he released another compilation album with his label 1017 Records, called So Icy Gang Vol. 1, featuring new artists from his label. In 2021, he released his fifteenth studio album, Ice Daddy.
In November 2022, he released a song and video called "Letter to Takeoff," dedicated to the rapper Takeoff. Throughout 2023, Gucci Mane released about ten singles, including "King Snipe", "06 Gucci", and "Pissy". These songs, along with others, appeared on his sixteenth studio album, Breath of Fresh Air, released in October 2023. This album is his largest project ever, with 24 songs and 12 music videos.
Other Ventures
Acting Career
Gucci Mane has also tried acting. He appeared in the 2012 film Birds of a Feather. In the same year, he was featured in the movie Spring Breakers, which starred actors like James Franco and Selena Gomez.
Delantic Clothing
In May 2016, Gucci Mane started showing off his upcoming clothing line called Delantic. The line includes various clothes like T-shirts, hoodies, and underwear.
Autobiography
In September 2017, Radric Davis published his autobiography, The Autobiography of Gucci Mane. He wrote the book with Neil Martinez-Belkin, a former editor for XXL Magazine. The book became a New York Times bestseller.
Fashion Collaboration
In 2019, Davis began working with the famous Italian fashion brand Gucci. After making positive changes in his personal life, including getting married and focusing on his health, Gucci announced that he would be the face of their Gucci Cruise 2020 Campaign.
Personal Life
After his release in 2016, some people online started a funny conspiracy theory that he was a "clone" of the "real" Gucci Mane. This was because he looked slimmer, his voice seemed a little different, and he adopted a healthier lifestyle. Gucci Mane denied this and even joked about the theory on social media. He has also spoken about his journey to a healthier lifestyle.
Radric Davis married Keyshia Ka'oir, who is the founder of Ka'oir Cosmetics and Ka'oir Fitness. They got married in Miami on October 17, 2017. Their wedding was even featured in a TV series called The Mane Event. Davis had proposed to Ka'oir after performing at an Atlanta Hawks basketball game. They have two children together: a son named Ice Davis, born in December 2020, and a daughter named Iceland Ka'oir Davis, born in February 2023.
In his 2017 autobiography, Davis shared that he has another son, born in 2007, whom he didn't know about until the child was ten months old.
