The Migos was an American hip hop group from Lawrenceville, Georgia. They started in 2008. The group was made up of Southern rappers Quavo, Takeoff, and Offset. Quavo is from Athens, Georgia. Offset and Takeoff grew up in nearby Lawrenceville, Georgia.

Migos became very popular for their unique style of trap music in the 2010s. They released their first big song, "Versace", in 2013. They also had many other hit songs. These included "Fight Night" (2014) and "Look at My Dab" (2015). They had four songs reach the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. These hits were "Bad and Boujee" (2016), "MotorSport" (2017), "Stir Fry" (2018), and "Walk It Talk It" (2018).

Migos released their first album, Yung Rich Nation, in July 2015. In 2016, the group appeared as themselves in the TV show Atlanta. Their second album, Culture, came out in January 2017. It was a huge success, reaching number one on the US Billboard 200 chart. They signed new deals and released Culture II in January 2018. This was their second number one album. In 2021, they released their fourth album, Culture III. This was the last album in their Culture series.

Sadly, on November 1, 2022, Takeoff passed away in Houston, Texas.

Early Life and Group Formation

The three members of Migos grew up together. Quavo's mother, Edna Marshall, raised them in Lawrenceville, Georgia. They listened to many famous hip hop artists as they grew up. Some of these included Outkast, Gucci Mane, and Lil Wayne.

Migos formed in 2008. They were originally called the Polo Club. The name 'Migos' comes from 'Three Amigos'. This name shows that the three members grew up together like close friends. Takeoff was Quavo's nephew. Offset was a classmate of Quavo. They all grew up in suburban Atlanta.

Music Career Highlights

First Songs and Big Hits

Migos released their first full project, a mixtape called Juug Season, in 2011. They followed this with another mixtape, No Label, in 2012.

In 2013, Migos released their breakthrough song "Versace". This song was produced by Zaytoven. It reached number 99 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. Later that year, Canadian rapper Drake made the song even more famous. He added his own part to the song. On June 13, Migos released their mixtape Y.R.N. (Young Rich...). This mixtape included "Versace" and was praised by music critics.

More Mixtapes and First Album

On February 25, 2014, Migos released No Label 2. This mixtape was downloaded over 100,000 times in its first week. It received good reviews from music critics. In June 2014, Migos signed a deal with 300 Entertainment. Their song "Fight Night" became a hit. It reached number 69 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
