Offset's Music Journey
Offset began his music career at a young age. When he was 10, he was a backup dancer in a music video for Whitney Houston's song "Whatchulookinat" in 2002.
Forming Migos
Offset grew up in Gwinnett County, Georgia, near Atlanta. In 2008, he formed the group Migos with Quavo and Takeoff. They were like family, considering each other cousins since childhood, even though they weren't biologically related.
Migos first became well-known in 2013 with their song "Versace". In 2015, they released their first album, Yung Rich Nation.
Big Hits with Migos
In 2017, their song "Bad and Boujee" became a huge hit and an Internet meme. Many people felt that Offset's part in the song was especially strong. The song reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. Later that year, Migos released their second album, Culture, which went straight to number one on the US Billboard 200 chart.
Solo Success and Collaborations
Besides his work with Migos, Offset has released his own music and worked with many other artists. In 2017, he was featured on Metro Boomin's song "No Complaints" with Drake. He also joined Macklemore on the song "Willy Wonka".
Offset then released a special album called Without Warning with rapper 21 Savage and producer Metro Boomin. This album came out on October 31, 2017, and reached number 4 on the US Billboard 200 chart. It included the popular song "Ric Flair Drip", which was Offset's first solo song to sell over a million copies.
On February 22, 2019, Offset released his first solo album, Father of 4. This album featured the song "Clout" with Cardi B, which was a top 40 hit.
After Migos released their fourth album, Culture III, in June 2021, Offset was featured on the soundtrack for the movie Fast & Furious 9.
Migos Disbands
In May 2022, there were rumors that Migos might be breaking up. Offset and his wife, Cardi B, stopped following Quavo and Takeoff online after Quavo and Takeoff announced their new duo project.
Sadly, his groupmate Takeoff passed away in November 2022. This led to the group Migos officially disbanding the following year.
On July 28, 2023, Offset released the song "Jealousy" with Cardi B. This song was the first single from his second solo album, Set It Off, which came out on October 13, 2023. The album also featured other artists like Travis Scott, Future, and Latto.
Other Projects and Interests
Offset has explored many different areas beyond music.
Acting and TV Appearances
In 2016, Offset and the other Migos members appeared in an episode of Donald Glover's TV show Atlanta. He also appeared on the popular YouTube series Hot Ones in 2019, where guests eat increasingly spicy chicken wings. Offset also made his acting debut in the TV show NCIS: Los Angeles. In 2023, he had a voice role in Baby Shark's Big Movie.
Business and Charity
In August 2019, Offset announced that he had invested in an Esports organization called FaZe Clan. He said he loves gaming and believes Esports is the future.
Offset has also used his platform to help others. He joined Axis Replay in 2020 to help struggling artists. After losing his grandmother to cancer in 2012, he helped raise $500,000 for the American Cancer Society.
Family Life
In 2017, Offset began dating fellow rapper Cardi B. They got married privately on September 20, 2017. Cardi B became a stepmother to his three children from previous relationships.
In May 2018, Offset was in a car crash but was not seriously hurt.
Offset and Cardi B welcomed their first child together, a daughter, in 2018. In June 2021, they announced they were expecting their second child, a son, who was born later that year. Offset is a father to six children.
