Brian Hugh Warner (born January 5, 1969), who is known by his stage name Marilyn Manson, is an American rock musician. He is the lead singer of the band he started in 1989, also called Marilyn Manson. He is the only original member still in the band.
When the band started, the members created their stage names by mixing the first name of a famous female celebrity with the last name of a famous criminal. The singer chose his name from the actress Marilyn Monroe and the cult leader Charles Manson. He wanted to show the good and bad sides of American culture.
In the 1990s, the band became famous with albums like Portrait of an American Family (1994), Antichrist Superstar (1996), and Mechanical Animals (1998). .....
Manson has often been seen as a controversial figure in music. His lyrics and style have been discussed by politicians. After the Columbine High School massacre, some people in the media wrongly blamed Manson's music for influencing the event. His 2000 album, Holy Wood (In the Shadow of the Valley of Death), was his response to this.
Despite the controversy, the band has been very successful. Three of their albums have sold over a million copies (platinum status), and three others have sold over 500,000 copies (gold status). They have had eight albums in the top ten of the Billboard 200 chart. Manson was also ranked number 44 on Hit Parader magazine's list of the "Top 100 Heavy Metal Vocalists."
Besides music, Manson is also an actor and a painter. He first appeared in the movie Lost Highway in 1997. In 2002, he had his first art show in Los Angeles.

Early Life
Brian Hugh Warner was born in Canton, Ohio, on January 5, 1969. His parents were Barbara and Hugh Warner. He has English, German, Irish, and Polish family roots.
As a child, he went to his mother's Episcopal church. He attended Heritage Christian School until the tenth grade. At school, his teachers told students what kind of music they should not listen to. This made him curious, and he started to like the music he "wasn't supposed to." He later moved to GlenOak High School and graduated in 1987.
After high school, he and his parents moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He went to Broward College to study journalism. He wrote articles for a music magazine called 25th Parallel. This job allowed him to interview many musicians, including Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, who later helped him start his own music career.
Music Career
Manson formed his band in 1989 with guitarist Scott Putesky. At first, they were called Marilyn Manson & the Spooky Kids. Their concerts were known for being shocking and theatrical. The band members wore strange costumes and makeup. They quickly became popular in Florida.

Their next album, Antichrist Superstar (1996), was a huge success. It reached number three on the Billboard 200 chart and sold millions of copies.
For the 1998 album Mechanical Animals, Manson changed his look. He was inspired by 1970s glam rock artists like David Bowie. The album went to number one on the charts. .....
After being blamed for the Columbine tragedy, Manson released Holy Wood (In the Shadow of the Valley of Death) in 2000. The album was a return to his earlier industrial metal sound and was praised by critics.
The band continued to release successful albums. The Golden Age of Grotesque (2003) was inspired by 1920s art and culture. It also debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. Later albums like The Pale Emperor (2015) and We Are Chaos (2020) were also very popular with fans and critics.
