Keyger Mountain isn't just one peak. It's a long, uneven ridge. It stretches across parts of Douglas and Christian counties. This area is in the southern part of Missouri, a state known for its hills and forests.

Where is Keyger Mountain?

The Keyger Mountain ridge starts near a place called Keltner. This is in Christian County. From there, it goes northeast. It ends near Tigris Peak. This peak is close to Missouri Route 14 in Douglas County. So, it's a pretty long stretch of land!

How Tall is Keyger Mountain?

Many spots along the Keyger Mountain ridge are quite high. Several peaks are taller than 1,650 feet. The very highest point is 1,703 feet tall. This spot is called the Painter Benchmark. You can find it along Missouri Route 14. It's about 1,000 feet west of where Route 14 meets Missouri Route AK.

What Streams Flow Nearby?

Several streams flow around Keyger Mountain. These streams help shape the land.

  • Little Beaver Creek is on the east and southeast sides.
  • Swan Creek flows along the northwest side.
  • Boulder Fork is found to the southwest.
  • Other small streams, which are part of Beaver Creek, are on the northeast side.

Connected to the Springfield Plateau

The Keyger Mountain ridge is also connected to a larger area. It links up with the southern edge of the Springfield Plateau. This connection happens through a narrow ridge. It runs from the Painter Benchmark to the community of Dogwood. Dogwood is about 1.5 miles north.
