Khalid Reeves (born July 15, 1972) is an American former professional basketball player. He played for six seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). The Miami Heat picked him as the 12th player in the first round of the 1994 NBA draft.
Reeves went to Christ The King Regional High School in Queens, New York. After high school, he played college basketball at the University of Arizona.
College Basketball Journey
Khalid Reeves wanted to play college basketball in a warm place. His high school coach, Bob Oliva, contacted Lute Olson, who was the coach at the University of Arizona. This led Reeves to join the Arizona Wildcats team.
He became one of the best scorers in the university's history. In the 1993-94 season, he scored 848 points, which was a record at the time. Reeves and his teammate Damon Stoudamire helped lead the Wildcats to the NCAA Final Four in 1994. They lost to Arkansas, who later won the championship.
Professional Basketball Career
Khalid Reeves played for many different NBA teams from 1994 to 2000. On average, he scored 7.8 points per game during his NBA career. His last NBA team was the Chicago Bulls during the 1999–2000 season. This was after Michael Jordan had left the team.
Reeves' final NBA game was on January 3, 2000. He scored 3 points and had 1 assist in a game against the Portland Trail Blazers.
After his time in the NBA, Reeves continued to play basketball professionally. He played in smaller leagues in the United States. He also played in other countries like Greece, France, Lebanon, and Venezuela. He retired from playing basketball in 2005.
Coaching Career
Today, Khalid Reeves is an assistant coach at his old high school. He coaches at Christ the King Regional High School, where he once played.
