Khosro Heydari (Persian: خسرو حیدری, born September 14, 1983) is a retired Iranian football player. He mostly played as a defender for Esteghlal, one of Iran's most famous football clubs.
Club Career Highlights
Khosro Heydari showed great skill while playing for Pas. Because of his strong performances, he joined Esteghlal F.C. in 2008. He quickly became a key player for them.
In the 2008–09 season, Heydari helped Esteghlal win the league championship. He continued to be a very important player for the team.
In 2010, he moved to Sepahan on a two-year contract. He also helped Sepahan win the league title.
After one season with Sepahan, Heydari returned to Esteghlal F.C. in July 2011. In his first season back, he helped Esteghlal win the Hazfi Cup. The next season, they won the Iran Pro League again.
He signed new contracts with Esteghlal in 2013 and 2016, staying with the club until 2019. Khosro Heydari announced his retirement from football at the end of the 2018–19 season. His final game for Esteghlal was a 2–1 win against Sepidrood on May 16, 2019.
International Career
Khosro Heydari was part of the Iran national under-23 football team. He played for them in the 2006 Asian Games, where his team won a bronze medal.
He was called up to the senior Iran national team in June 2007. He made his first appearance for Iran in a match against Palestine.
Heydari played in the qualification matches for the 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups. He also took part in the qualification rounds for the 2011 and 2015 AFC Asian Cups.
He represented Team Melli (the nickname for Iran's national team) in several major tournaments. These included the 2010 West Asian Football Federation Championship, the 2011 Asian Cup, the 2014 FIFA World Cup, and the 2015 Asian Cup.
