Khur is an old city, about 400 years old! It is located in the southern part of the Fars province. The city is about 300 kilometers (186 miles) away from Shiraz, a major city in Iran.

Khur has very hot and dry summers. Winters are cold and dry. Sometimes, during the second month of summer, there's a special rainy period known as chel pasini, which means "forty afternoons."
