Kim Shuck is a talented writer, poet, and artist. She is a citizen of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma. Her art often connects to Southeastern Native American traditions. It also reflects modern Native American life in cities.

Kim was born in San Francisco, California. Her family is part of the Cherokee community there. She also has Sac and Fox and Polish roots. She studied art at San Francisco State University. She earned a bachelor's degree in art in 1994. Later, she got a master's degree in Textiles in 1998.

Her amazing basket weaving is inspired by her grandmother, Etta Mae Rowe. It also honors the long history of California Native American basket making.

Kim Shuck's Teaching and Art

Kim Shuck has shared her knowledge as a teacher. She taught American Indian Studies at San Francisco State University. She was also a special artist at the de Young Museum. This happened in June 2010, where she worked with Michael Horse.
