Kim Woojin (Hangul: 김우진) was born on April 8, 1997. He is a singer and actor from South Korea. He used to be a member of the K-pop boy group Stray Kids. This group was created by JYP Entertainment in 2017. After leaving Stray Kids in 2019, Kim Woojin started his solo music career in 2021. He released his first mini-album, called The Moment: A Minor. Since then, he has released two more mini-albums.

Besides music, Kim Woojin has also started acting. He had a main role in a Brazilian TV show called Além do Guarda-Roupa (which means My Magic Closet). He first signed with 10x Entertainment for his solo work. Now, he is with Kustomade, a company that became part of SM Entertainment in 2024.

Early Life and Training

Kim Woojin was born in Bucheon, South Korea. He went to the School of Performing Arts Seoul. Before joining JYP Entertainment, he trained for one year at SM Entertainment. There, he practiced with other trainees who later became part of the group NCT. On October 11, 2017, he was introduced as a trainee at JYP Entertainment.

Music Career Highlights

Starting with Stray Kids (2017–2019)

In 2017, Kim Woojin took part in a TV show called Stray Kids on Mnet. This show was a competition to choose members for a new boy group. During the show, the group released a song called "Hellevator" on November 1. The final group had nine members, and they released their first mini-album, Mixtape, on January 8, 2018.

Kim Woojin officially started his career with Stray Kids on March 25, 2018. They had a special show called Unveil (Op. 01: I Am Not). The next day, they released their mini-album I Am Not with the main song "District 9". Kim Woojin also helped write the lyrics for a song called "Mixtape #1" on this album.

On October 28, 2019, Kim Woojin left Stray Kids. JYP Entertainment said it was for "personal reasons." While he was with Stray Kids, the group released six mini-albums. All of these albums were very popular and received "platinum" awards in Korea.

Solo Music and Acting (2020–2023)

In January 2020, Kim Woojin posted on Instagram, saying "Kim Woojin restart." He met with fans in May and then signed with a new company, 10x Entertainment, in August. Before his official solo debut, he released a song called "Still Dream" on July 8, 2021. His first mini-album, The Moment: A Minor, came out on August 8, 2021, with the main song "Ready Now." This mini-album was very successful, reaching number seven on the Korean music charts.

In November 2021, he sang "Because It's You" for the TV show Let Me Be Your Knight. In December, he acted in a web film called 3.5th Period. He played a kind and handsome character named Lee Han-ik. He also sang "Timeless" for the film's soundtrack.

In 2022, Kim Woojin started his first concert tour, the Still Dream World Tour. He visited 19 countries and performed 33 shows in Europe, Latin America, North America, and Asia.

In April 2022, it was announced that he would star in a Brazilian TV series for HBO Max called Além do Guarda-Roupa (My Magic Closet). This made him the first South Korean actor to be in an HBO Max show. He played Kyung-min, a member of a fictional K-pop group called "ACT." He also sang three songs for the show's soundtrack. The show was filmed in 2022 and started airing in July 2023.

He also sang "In the End" for the TV show Reborn Rich in December 2022. In July 2023, he sang "Dive" for another TV show, King the Land.

His second mini-album, The Moment: Bounce, was released on August 30, 2023. It included the main song "On My Way." This album had a brighter sound than his first one. It reached number 19 on the music charts. To support this album, he went on The Moment Tour in India.

In late 2023, Kim Woojin also performed in a musical called Sherlock Holmes: The Secret of the Anderson Family. He played two twin brothers, Adam and Eric Anderson.

New Agency and Recent Music (2024–Present)

On March 18, 2024, SM Entertainment announced that they had bought Kim Woojin's agency, 10x Entertainment. It became a new company called Kustomade. One week later, Kustomade said that Kim Woojin would release new music in April. His third mini-album, I Like the Way, came out on April 22, 2024, with the main song of the same name. The album's look and feel showed a "fresh start" for the singer. This mini-album was very popular, reaching number seven on the music charts and selling the most copies in its first week for Kim Woojin. He promoted the album with the I Like the Way Tour in June 2024.

Kim Woojin started 2025 by releasing a new song called "5AM" on January 17. This song was a gift to his fans before he began his mandatory military service.

Personal Life

Kim Woojin started his mandatory military service in the Republic of Korea Army on January 20, 2025. After training, he will serve in the army band.

Addressing False Rumors

In September 2020, some false rumors were spread about Kim Woojin on social media. These rumors claimed he had acted inappropriately. Kim Woojin strongly denied these claims, saying he had never met the people who made the accusations or been to the places they mentioned. He took legal action against those who spread the false information.

The police investigated the claims and found that they were completely made up. The investigation showed that the people spreading the rumors were from Brazil and had never even been to South Korea or met Kim Woojin. In July 2021, his agency released a documentary called Finger Killer. This documentary explained how the false accusations were made against Kim Woojin.
