Kim Yong-dae (born October 11, 1979) is a South Korean former football goalkeeper. He played for teams like Ulsan Hyundai. Many fans thought he was one of South Korea's best goalkeepers. They even called him "Yong Der Sar," like the famous goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar.

Kim Yong-dae's Club Career
Starting with Busan IPark
Kim Yong-dae began his professional football journey with Busan IPark in 2002. He joined the team after finishing university. From 2002 to 2005, he played in 85 games for the club. His first big win came in 2004 when Busan IPark won the 2004 Korean FA Cup.
Time at Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma
In 2006, Kim moved to Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma. He played there for three years, until 2009. During this time, he played in 53 matches. In his first year, his team won the 2006 K-League championship. They also finished second in the K-League Cup. Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma was also the runner-up in the 2007 K-League and 2009 K-League.
Military Service with Gwangju Sangmu
In South Korea, all men must complete two years of military service. Kim Yong-dae joined the army club Gwangju Sangmu in 2008. He played 50 games for them during his two-year service.
Success with FC Seoul
After his military service, Kim joined FC Seoul in 2010. This is where he started playing much more often. In 2010, he helped FC Seoul win the 2010 K-League and the 2010 K-League Cup. He was also chosen as the best goalkeeper in the K-League that year.
More Wins and Key Saves
In 2012, Kim continued his success with FC Seoul. He helped them win the 2012 K-League title. For the second time, he was named the best goalkeeper in the K-League. He was a very important player for the team.
Important Matches and Saves
In 2013, Kim Yong-dae showed his amazing skills. He made many saves in a game against Jeju United. He even saved a penalty kick at the very end of the game, helping FC Seoul win. He also made vital saves against teams like Suwon Bluewings and Incheon United.
AFC Champions League Final
In the 2013 AFC Champions League Final, FC Seoul played against Guangzhou Evergrande from China. Kim Yong-dae made many fantastic saves in both games. Even though the games ended in ties, Guangzhou Evergrande won because of the away goals rule. This meant Kim and FC Seoul finished as runners-up.
Kim Yong-dae's International Career
Kim Yong-dae also played for the South Korea national team.
Early International Appearances
In 2006, he was the second-choice goalkeeper for South Korea in the FIFA World Cup. However, he did not get to play in any matches. He was also considered for the top goalkeeper spot for the 2007 AFC Asian Cup. But the main goalkeeper, Lee Woon-Jae, played all the games.
Later Years with the National Team
Later, a new goalkeeper, Jung Sung-Ryong, became the main choice for South Korea. Kim Yong-dae often sat on the bench for many matches. He was called up for a World Cup qualifying match in 2013 against Qatar. However, he did not play in that game either.
