What is the History of Kincaidston?
Kincaidston was built in the 1970s. It was created as a place for people to live. The homes were built by the local council at the time, called Kyle and Carrick District Council. They worked with a company called Digital Equipment Corporation. The idea was to house workers for a new factory nearby.
Today, some of the homes are still owned by the council, which is now South Ayrshire Council. However, many houses are now owned by private individuals. Most of the streets in Kincaidston are named after flowers. For example, you can find Celandine Bank, Honeysuckle Park, and Speedwell Square. The main road through the area is called Kincaidston Drive.
Before it became a housing area, Kincaidston was a farm. It was located just outside the town of Ayr. During World War I, a Sopwith Camel airplane crashed at the farm. The pilot, Captain Victor George Anderson Bush, sadly died in the accident. He was training at a flight school nearby.

Kincaidston has its own primary school, called Kincaidston Primary School. The community also has a community center where people can gather. There is a bowling club for sports fans. You can find a Spar shop for groceries and a church. Young people can visit a youth cafe.
For health needs, there is a GP surgery (a doctor's office) and a LloydsPharmacy at the Bankfield Medical Practice. A small stream called Annfield Burn flows through the northern part of the community.
