Kingsbridge Heights is a neighborhood in the northwest Bronx, New York City. It's a place where many people live. Its borders are Van Cortlandt Park to the north and Jerome Avenue to the east. To the south is Kingsbridge Road, and to the west is the Major Deegan Expressway. Sedgwick Avenue is the main road that goes through Kingsbridge Heights.

Who Lives in Kingsbridge Heights?
In 2010, about 32,496 people lived in Kingsbridge Heights. This was a small decrease from the year 2000. The neighborhood covers about 300 acres, which means many people live close together.
Kingsbridge Heights is a very diverse neighborhood. Many different groups of people live here. A large number of residents are of Dominican background. There are also many African American, Asian, and White residents. Most people living here rent their homes.
Changes in the Neighborhood
Over the years, some homes in the southern and central parts of Kingsbridge Heights became empty. Today, many of these homes are being fixed up. They are then rented out to new families moving into the area.

Types of Homes
Kingsbridge Heights has many multi-story homes where several families live. There are also many apartment buildings, especially in the central and southern parts of the neighborhood.
Van Cortlandt Village
In recent years, a northern part of the neighborhood called Van Cortlandt Village has seen new buildings. These include nicer rental apartments and co-op buildings. This area is near the Major Deegan Expressway, the Jerome Park Reservoir, and Van Cortlandt Park. In 2007, a TV channel called MSNBC said Van Cortlandt Village was one of "America's next hot neighborhoods."
There is also a large public housing building called Fort Independence Street-Heath Avenue Houses. It is 21 stories tall.
Famous Landmarks
The Jerome Park Reservoir is a very important landmark here. It was built in 1906 to help supply water to New York City. The reservoir is about 2.2 miles around.
The Kingsbridge Armory is another big building on Kingsbridge Road. It was built on land that used to be a famous horse racetrack called Jerome Park Racetrack. This racetrack was built by Leonard Jerome in 1867. The first big horse race, the Belmont Stakes, happened there. Later, the city bought the land to build the reservoir.
Another interesting building is 2744 Kingsbridge Terrace. It's known as the Castle of Kingsbridge and was built in 1914.
