This suburb is also home to two important schools: Mitcham Primary School and Mitcham Girls High School.

Discovering Kingswood's Past

Kingswood officially became a suburb in 1945. The local council, the City of Mitcham, decided to create it. They wanted to simplify the names of many smaller areas.

How Kingswood Was Formed

When Kingswood was first established, it brought together several smaller areas. These included places like Kingswood Estate, Kingswood Park, and Mitchamville. A part of an older area called Old Mitcham also became part of Kingswood.

Growing Over Time

Kingswood grew even bigger in February 2003. At that time, parts of the nearby suburbs of Netherby and Mitcham were added to Kingswood. This helped make the suburb the size it is today.
