Kira Aundrea Lewis Jr. (born April 6, 2001) is an American professional basketball player. He plays as a point guard for the Capital City Go-Go in the NBA G League. Kira played college basketball for the Alabama Crimson Tide. He was chosen by the New Orleans Pelicans in the first round of the 2020 NBA draft.

High School Basketball Journey
Kira Lewis Jr. played basketball at Hazel Green High School in Hazel Green, Alabama. He played there for three years. In his junior year, he was amazing on the court. He scored about 28.5 points per game. He also grabbed nearly 6 rebounds and made 4.5 assists. Kira helped his team reach the semifinals of the Alabama Class 6A tournament.
Awards and Recognition
Kira earned first-team All-State honors for two years in a row. He was also a finalist for the "Alabama Mr. Basketball" award. He was named the Huntsville Region Player of the Year. He also won the Alabama Class 6A Player of the Year award.
Early Graduation and College Choice
Kira was originally supposed to graduate in 2019. But he finished high school early. He then joined the 2018 college class. On August 10, 2018, Kira decided to play for Alabama. He chose Alabama over other big college teams. These included Indiana and Kansas. Experts like ESPN and 247Sports thought he was a top player.
College Career Highlights
Kira Lewis Jr. started his college career at Alabama. He was one of the youngest players in NCAA Division I basketball. He was only 17 years old.
Freshman Season (2018-2019)
In his first game, Kira scored six points. In his next game, he scored 21 points. He then set a season high with 24 points against Wichita State. He matched that 24-point record later against Georgia. Kira averaged 13.5 points, 2.9 assists, and 2.6 rebounds per game. He was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team. Even with Kira's great play, Alabama's team had a tough season. They lost in the first round of the NIT tournament. Kira thought about leaving Alabama. But the new coach, Nate Oats, convinced him to stay.
Sophomore Season (2019-2020)
Kira started his second season strong. He scored a career-high 30 points in the first game. On February 8, 2020, he scored an amazing 37 points. This helped Alabama win an overtime game against Georgia. A few days later, Kira made history. He recorded a triple-double (10 points, 10 rebounds, 13 assists). This was only the second triple-double in Alabama school history. He was the first Alabama player since 1996 to do this. Kira continued to play well. He scored 29 points in a game against Mississippi State. At the end of the season, he was named to the First Team All-SEC. As a sophomore, Kira averaged 18.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per game. After this successful season, Kira decided to enter the 2020 NBA draft.

New Orleans Pelicans (2020–2024)
The New Orleans Pelicans picked Kira as the 13th overall player in the 2020 NBA draft. He officially signed with the Pelicans on November 30, 2020. Kira was a player who came off the bench to help the team. He scored double-digits for the first time on January 13, 2021. He had 10 points in that game. On March 23, he set a career high with 16 points and 6 assists.
Unfortunately, Kira suffered a serious injury on December 8, 2021. He tore his ACL and sprained his MCL during a game. This injury ended his season early.
Toronto Raptors (2024)
On January 17, 2024, Kira was part of a trade. He was sent from the Pelicans to the Indiana Pacers. Then, he was traded again to the Toronto Raptors. This trade involved several players and draft picks. On January 19, 2024, the Raptors sent Kira to their G League team, the Raptors 905.
Utah Jazz (2024)
Kira played only two minutes in one game for the Raptors. Soon after, he was traded again. He went to the Utah Jazz in another trade.
Capital City Go-Go (2024–Present)
Kira Lewis Jr. joined the Houston Rockets for the 2024 NBA Summer League. On September 29, 2024, he signed with the Washington Wizards. However, he was waived by the Wizards on October 12. On October 28, he joined the Capital City Go-Go. Kira also joined the Miami Heat for the 2025 NBA Summer League.
Playing for Team USA
Kira Lewis Jr. played for the United States national team. He competed in the 2019 FIBA Under-19 Basketball World Cup. This tournament was held in Heraklion, Greece. He averaged four points and 1.6 assists per game. Kira helped his team win a gold medal at the event.
