Kirrama National Park is a special protected area in Far North Queensland, Australia. It's found near a town called Minnamoolka in the Tablelands Region. This park is a fantastic place that protects amazing mountain views, thick tropical rainforests, and open forests filled with eucalyptus trees.

Kirrama National Park is part of a much larger and very important area called the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area. This means it's recognized around the world for its unique nature. The park also sits within the area where water flows into the Burdekin River. You can find many different kinds of plants and animals living here.

Getting to Kirrama National Park

If you want to visit Kirrama National Park, you can get there using the Kennedy Development Road. This road is located south of Mount Garnet.

Road Closures and Access

Back in 2011, it became harder to get into the park because Kirrama Range Road was closed. This happened after a very strong storm called Cyclone Yasi hit the coast. The storm caused a lot of damage to the old gravel road and many of its bridges, making them unsafe to use.

What You Can Do at the Park

Kirrama National Park is a place to enjoy nature, but it doesn't have many special facilities for visitors.

Exploring the Rainforest Walk

The main thing you can do is explore the Society Flat rainforest walk. This is a walking path that goes in a circle and is about 720 meters long. It's a great way to see the beautiful rainforest up close.

Camping Rules

It's important to know that you are not allowed to camp inside Kirrama National Park. This helps protect the natural environment and the animals that live there.
