Kit Wright (born June 17, 1944) is an English writer. He has written over 25 books for both kids and adults. He has won many awards for his writing. Some of these include the Geoffrey Faber Memorial Prize and the Hawthornden Prize. Kit Wright studied at Oxford University. He used to teach in Canada. Later, he worked at the Poetry Society in England. Today, he is a full-time writer.
Kit Wright's Early Life and Career
Kit Wright was born in Crockham Hill, Kent, England. He went to Oxford University for his education. After university, he moved to Canada. There, he worked as a lecturer, teaching students.
In 1970, Kit Wright came back to London. He worked for the Poetry Society as an Education Officer until 1975. This job involved helping people learn about poetry. Later, from 1977 to 1979, he was a Fellow Commoner in Creative Art at Cambridge University. This means he was a special guest who focused on creative writing.
After his time at Cambridge, he returned to London. He now works full-time as a writer. He also writes a monthly article for The Oldie magazine. In 1997, he became a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature. This is a special honor for writers.
