Playing for Osaka SC
Kiyoo Kanda played football for a team called Osaka SC. This club was started by students who graduated from his high school. Many other players from the Japanese national team also played for Osaka SC during that time. Some of these famous players included Shiro Azumi, Fukusaburo Harada, and Uichiro Hatta.
Kiyoo Kanda's National Team Career
Representing Japan in International Matches
In May 1923, Kiyoo Kanda was chosen to play for the Japan national team. He joined the team for the 1923 Far Eastern Championship Games held in Osaka. On May 23, he played his very first game for Japan against the Philippines. This match was special because it was Japan's first ever official international football game.
Kanda also played in the 1925 Far Eastern Championship Games in Manila. He played a total of 4 games for Japan between 1923 and 1925. Sadly, Japan lost both matches he played in during these tournaments.
Kiyoo Kanda passed away on May 9, 1970.
