The Kluane / Wrangell–St. Elias / Glacier Bay / Tatshenshini-Alsek area is a huge group of parks. It stretches across the border between Canada and the United States. You can find it where Yukon and British Columbia (in Canada) meet Alaska (in the United States).

This amazing natural area has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1994. This means it is considered very important for everyone in the world to protect. The site is famous for its many huge icefields and glaciers. It covers a massive area of about 98,391 square kilometers (37,989 square miles).

The Parks That Make Up This Special Place

This large World Heritage Site is actually made up of four different parks. Each park helps protect the unique environment of this region.

  • Kluane National Park and Reserve (Canada): This park is located in the Yukon territory of Canada. It is known for having some of the tallest mountains in Canada. It also has large icefields and glaciers.
  • Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve (United States): Also in Alaska, this park is famous for its many tidewater glaciers. These glaciers flow directly into the ocean. It is a great place to see marine wildlife.
  • Tatshenshini-Alsek Provincial Park (British Columbia, Canada): This provincial park is in British Columbia, Canada. It is known for its wild rivers and diverse wildlife. It connects the other parks in this vast protected area.

Together, these four parks create one of the largest protected areas in the world. They help to preserve a huge ecosystem of mountains, ice, and wildlife.
