Knobel is a small city located in Clay County, Arkansas, in the United States. In 2020, about 147 people lived there.
History of Knobel
Knobel started in the 1870s. It was a stop along the St. Louis, Iron Mountain and Southern Railway line. This made it an important place for travel and trade.
A post office opened in Knobel by 1874. This helped the town grow and connect with other places. In 1884, the railroad built a big hotel called Knobel House. Soon after, the town was officially planned out.
Knobel became an incorporated city in 1896. This meant it had its own local government. On January 21, 1999, a very strong tornado, an F4, hit areas near the town.
Geography of Knobel
Knobel is located in northeastern Arkansas. Its exact coordinates are 36°19′10″N 90°36′6″W / 36.31944°N 90.60167°W. The city is southwest of Corning. You can reach it by following Arkansas Highway 90.
The United States Census Bureau says that Knobel covers about 1.1 square kilometers (0.42 square miles). All of this area is land, with no water.
