Knox Cameron's Soccer Journey

Playing Soccer in College and as an Amateur

Knox Cameron grew up in New York City. He went to Cardinal Spellman High School in The Bronx. Later, he played college soccer at the University of Michigan.

At the University of Michigan, he became one of the best players. He is second in the school's history for goals scored (28) and total points (72). In his third year, he was even named the Big Ten Player of the Year.

While in Michigan, Knox also played in indoor and recreational leagues. He was very good at playing soccer without shoes. One time, he scored 14 goals in an indoor game while playing barefoot!

During his college years, Knox also played for two teams in the USL Premier Development League. These teams were the Brooklyn Knights and the Michigan Bucks. Before college, he played for Pasco Soccer Club in Wayne, New Jersey. He helped them win many tournaments.

Becoming a Professional Soccer Player

Knox Cameron had a serious knee injury while playing for the Michigan Bucks. Because of this, he missed a lot of his final year at Michigan. This injury also made some teams unsure about signing him.

So, in the 2005 MLS SuperDraft, he was picked in the fourth round by Columbus Crew. He played 30 games for them over two years and scored 4 goals. After the 2006 season, the team decided to let him go. While with the Crew, he played a friendly game against the English team Everton. He even thanked them on the scoreboard for coming to Columbus so he could beat them!

After leaving Columbus Crew, Knox played for an amateur team called Canton Celtic. This team played in Michigan's MUSL Men's Open 1st Division. Canton Celtic won the Michigan part of the USASA National Amateur Cup Championship. They then represented their state at a regional tournament in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

In 2009, Knox returned to play for the Michigan Bucks in the USL Premier Development League. Then, in 2012, he joined Detroit City FC. He played his first game for Detroit City FC on May 26, 2012. He scored the first goal in their 3–0 win against the Erie Admirals.

He continued playing for Detroit City FC in 2013. He scored two goals in their first game of the season. He also scored another goal in their first home game. Knox scored again in Detroit City FC's 2–0 win over Zanseville AFC. This brought his total to 4 goals for that season.
