The Story of Kobukuro
How They Got Their Name
The name 'Kobukuro' is actually a clever mix of the two members' last names! It comes from Kentaro Kobuchi and Shunsuke Kuroda. Pretty cool, right?
How Kobukuro Started
Kentaro and Shunsuke first met in Sakai, Japan, back in 1998. That's when they decided to team up and create the band Kobukuro!
Their Music Journey
Kobukuro started their music journey by releasing three independent albums. These albums were Saturday 8:PM (released in July 1999), Root of My Mind (released in March 2001), and 'ANSWER' (released in December 2000). They did quite well!
In 2001, Kobukuro signed with a big record company called Warner Music Japan. They made their official debut with a super hit song called Yell. This song was very popular and reached number 4 on the Oricon Charts, which is a big music chart in Japan.
One of their popular albums is 5296, which came out in December 2007. They also released a new single called “STAY”.
