In 1999, Komal released her first song. It was a huge hit! The song was a Punjabi bhangra track called "Bauji bauji bhangra saaday naal paoji." This song made her famous very quickly. She often writes the words for her own songs.

Komal Rizvi's Career
Acting Roles
Komal Rizvi's first acting job was for Pakistan Television (PTV). She starred in the very popular show Hawain in 1997. After that, she appeared in Lehrein. Other TV shows like Kabhi Kabhi, Teesra Peher, and Samandar Hai Darmiyan helped her become a leading actress in Pakistan. She also received much praise for her role in Hum TV's Mujhay Roothnay Na Daina.
Even though she is praised for her acting, Komal is very careful about the acting projects she chooses. She wants to keep her main focus on singing. She looks for strong, realistic, and relatable stories. She only accepts roles if the script and her character are good enough.
In 2016, news came out that Komal would be in a Hollywood movie. A Canadian company was making the film, called Afreen. It was planned for release in 2017. Komal shared that the movie was against ISIS and supported Muslims.
Hosting TV Shows
Komal Rizvi also has a career as a TV host. She started by hosting Karachi Nights With Komal. A big part of her hosting career was for Hum TV in Pakistan. She hosted Hum TV Mornings With Komal. She also hosted Nachley, a popular dance reality show for ARY.
Singing Performances
Komal Rizvi was part of Coke Studio's third season. There, she sang "Daaneh Pe Daanah" with folk singer Akhtar Chanal Zahri. This song was originally written by Zahri. It celebrates the province of Balochistan. This Coke Studio version mixed the folk song with the Sindhi Sufi classic "Lal Meri Path." This brought both songs to a new level in 2011.
The song was given a modern funk beat. It became a colorful musical example of different styles. Zahri and Rizvi, two strong but different artists, combined their voices. It was a symbolic celebration of being unique.
Rizvi also performed "Lambi Judaai." This is a classic song by Reshma. Reshma's "Lambi Judaai" from the 1983 Bollywood film Hero was a huge hit. Coke Studio presented this song with a smooth background of rich musical sounds. This made it sound like a ballad from the 1950s.
Both "Daaneh Pe Daanah" and "Lambi Judaai" are among the Top 10 all-time hits of Coke Studio. Komal Rizvi is the only female singer to have two songs on that list. She has also performed many old Punjabi songs.
