Konileti "Konrad" Hurrell, born on August 5, 1991, is a professional rugby league player from Tonga. He plays as a centre (which means 'centre') for the Bradford Bulls on loan from St Helens. He also represents his home country, Tonga, in international games.

Konrad has played for several big teams in his career. These include the New Zealand Warriors and the Gold Coast Titans in Australia's NRL league. He also played for the World All Stars team in 2016.

Growing Up in Tonga and Moving to New Zealand

Konrad Hurrell was born in a place called Tofoa, in Tonga. In late 2009, he moved to New Zealand. He received a special scholarship to play rugby union at Auckland Grammar School.

Excelling in Rugby and Other Sports

At Auckland Grammar, Konrad played for the school's top rugby union team. He even became the vice-captain in his second year. He also played for Auckland Secondary Schools as a centre. Besides rugby, Konrad was a talented athlete. In 2010, he became New Zealand's national champion in weightlifting for his weight category.

Switching to Rugby League

In 2011, Konrad decided to try rugby league. He joined the Junior Warriors team, which played in the Toyota Cup. Even though it was his first year playing rugby league, he was amazing! He scored 22 tries in 21 games and was chosen for the competition's Team of the Year.

Konrad Hurrell's Professional Rugby League Career

Starting Strong with New Zealand Warriors (2012)

In 2012, Konrad joined the main team of the New Zealand Warriors. He made his first big game appearance in round 1 against the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles. In round 2, he scored his first ever try in the NRL against the Parramatta Eels. Later that season, he scored three tries in one game against the Gold Coast Titans. Konrad finished his first season as one of the Warriors' top try-scorers, with 12 tries in 17 games.

Continuing Success and International Debut (2013)

Konrad continued to play well for the New Zealand Warriors in 2013. He played 20 matches and scored 13 tries. Even though he had thought about playing for New Zealand, he was chosen to play for his home country, Tonga, in the 2013 Rugby League World Cup. He played in three matches for Tonga and scored a try against the Cook Islands.

In 2014, Konrad played in the 2014 Auckland Nines tournament for the Warriors. He played 19 matches and scored 12 tries that season. In 2015, he signed a new contract to stay with the Warriors until 2018. He also played for Tonga in the 2015 Polynesian Cup against Samoa. During a game against the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks, Konrad was suspended for three matches due to a dangerous tackle. He finished the 2015 season playing 12 matches and scoring four tries.

Moving to Gold Coast Titans (2016-2018)

In 2016, Konrad was part of the Warriors' Auckland Nines squad. He also played for the World All Stars team against the Indigenous All Stars, scoring a try in their win. Later that year, he left the New Zealand Warriors and joined the Gold Coast Titans.

After making a big impact with the Titans, Konrad signed a new contract to stay until the end of 2019. He was even named the Members Most Valuable Player (MVP) for the club in 2017. He also played for Tonga in the 2017 World Cup. In 2018, Konrad played his 100th NRL game. He continued to represent Tonga in international matches. Towards the end of 2018, Konrad decided to move to England to play for Leeds Rhinos.

Becoming a Fan Favorite at Leeds Rhinos (2019-2021)

Konrad had a fantastic first year in the English Super League with Leeds Rhinos. He quickly became a favorite among the fans. He scored 14 tries in the season, making him the second-highest try scorer for the club that year. In one game against Hull Kingston Rovers, he scored four tries, which was his personal best! He won the Fans Player of the Year Award for Leeds Rhinos in 2019.

In 2020, Konrad helped Leeds win the 2020 Challenge Cup Final at Wembley Stadium. He continued to play for Leeds in 2021, including their semi-final match. After the 2021 season, Konrad signed a contract to play for St Helens.

Winning Championships with St Helens (2022-2024)

In 2022, Konrad made his debut for St Helens R.F.C.. He quickly became an important player for the team. He scored two tries in a big win against his former club, Leeds. In September 2022, Konrad scored a try in the Grand Final against Leeds, helping St Helens win their fourth Grand Final in a row!

In 2023, Konrad was part of the St Helens team that won the 2023 World Club Challenge against the Penrith Panthers. This was a huge upset victory! In a game against Leeds, he was sent off the field for a tackle. He also scored two tries in a big win against Wakefield Trinity.

In 2024, Konrad scored the winning try for St Helens in a close game against their rivals, Wigan. He played 13 matches for St Helens that season. In November, he signed a new contract to stay with the club for another year.

Loan Moves in 2025

In February 2025, Konrad was sent on a temporary loan to Halifax Panthers, a team in the Championship league. This was to get more playing time. In May 2025, he also played a game on loan for Swinton Lions. In June 2025, he joined the Bradford Bulls on a two-week loan.
