Kopsis Glacier is a large river of ice located in Antarctica. It is about 7 nautical miles (13 km; 8.1 mi) (13 kilometers) long and 2 nautical miles (3.7 km; 2.3 mi) (3.7 kilometers) wide. This glacier flows through the Ellsworth Mountains, which are a major mountain range on the continent.
Kopsis Glacier gets its name from a very old town called Kopsis in Central Bulgaria.
Where is Kopsis Glacier?
Kopsis Glacier is found on the eastern side of the north-central Sentinel Range. This range is part of the larger Ellsworth Mountains in Antarctica. The glacier flows towards the northeast.
It starts near places like Panicheri Gap, Voysil Peak, and Mount Gozur. As it moves, Kopsis Glacier joins up with another glacier called Embree Glacier. This meeting point is northwest of Mirovyane Peak.
The exact location of Kopsis Glacier is at 78°03′20″S 85°16′00″W / 78.05556°S 85.26667°W. Maps of this area were first made by the United States in 1961 and then updated in 1988.
