Korneuburg is a town in Austria. It is located in the state of Lower Austria. This town is the main administrative center for the Korneuburg area.
Korneuburg sits on the left bank of the Danube River. It is directly across from the city of Klosterneuburg. The town is also about 12 kilometers northwest of Vienna, Austria's capital. It covers an area of about 9.71 square kilometers. As of 2001, about 11,032 people lived there.

History of Korneuburg
Korneuburg started as a settlement along the river. It was first connected to Klosterneuburg and known as Nivenburg. The town was first mentioned in official records in 1136. In 1298, Korneuburg gained the right to become a separate town from Klosterneuburg.
Shipyard's Role in History
The Korneuburg shipyard played an important role in the town's history. In 1938, it became part of a large industrial group. The shipyard grew significantly during this time. By 1941, new buildings were added to support its work. In 1945, the shipyard was taken over by the Red Army.
Military Events in Korneuburg
Korneuburg has been involved in several historical military events. These include the Battle of Vienna and the Thirty Years' War. The town also saw action during the French Revolutionary Wars. Later, it was part of the Oil Campaign of World War II.
Today, the Korneuburg Shipyard is home to a part of the Museum of Military History, Vienna. You can see two patrol boats there: Niederösterreich and Oberst Brecht. These were the last patrol ships used by the Austrian Army on the Danube River. They followed in the footsteps of the older KuK Kriegsmarine ships.
