Koshi (Nepali: कोशी अञ्चल) was one of the fourteen special areas, called zones, in Nepal. It was located in the eastern part of the country. The main city and administrative center of Koshi Zone was Biratnagar. This city was also the largest in the zone.
Other important cities in Koshi Zone included Inaruwa, Dharan, Dhankuta, and Itahari. The zone was known for its major rivers, such as the Arun, Tamar, and Sapta Koshi. Koshi Zone was made up of six smaller areas called districts.
