Kristian Digby (born Scott Kristian Edwin Digby, 24 June 1977 – 1 March 2010) was a well-known English television presenter and director. He was most famous for hosting the show To Buy or Not to Buy on BBC One.

Early Life and Achievements

Kristian Digby was born in Torquay, Devon. His parents worked as property developers. He went to Bramdean School in Exeter.

Kristian faced challenges with severe dyslexia during his school years. He later made a documentary for the BBC called Hiding the Truth: I Can't Read. In this film, he revisited his old school to share his experiences.

He studied film and photography at the University of Westminster. In 1997, Kristian's film Words of Deception won a Junior BAFTA award. The next year, his film Last Train to Demise won the Best Student Film award at the Melbourne Film Festival.

Kristian Digby's TV Career

Kristian started his TV journey as a presenter for ITV on a show called Nightlife. He also directed several TV programmes. These included Homefront, Fantasy Rooms, and The O-Zone.

In 2001, he hosted That Gay Show on BBC Choice. From 2003 onwards, Kristian presented many shows for the BBC. His most famous role was on To Buy or Not to Buy.

He also presented other popular shows like Uncharted Territory, Holiday, and Living in the Sun. Kristian was a familiar face on BBC morning TV.

Popular BBC Morning Shows

Kristian Digby presented several shows focused on homes and property:

  • Open House – On this show, Kristian and his team helped improve homes that weren't selling. After the makeover, they held an open house for potential buyers.
  • Buy It, Sell It, Bank It – This show followed two property developers at a house auction. The winner's journey was shown as they fixed up the house. The person who didn't win shared their thoughts on the changes at the end.
  • To Build or Not to Build – In 2008, Kristian decided to build his own house. The BBC followed his project and also featured other people doing similar building projects.

Charity Work and Support

Kristian Digby spent a lot of his time helping charities. He supported groups that helped people with dyslexia. He also worked with charities that supported LGBT people.

Two important charities he was involved with were The Albert Kennedy Trust and the Terrence Higgins Trust. The Albert Kennedy Trust helps young LGBT people who are homeless. The Terrence Higgins Trust supports people living with HIV and AIDS.

After Kristian passed away, the Albert Kennedy Trust created the Kristian Digby Young Person of the Year Award. This award honors his memory and continues his work helping young people.

Kristian Digby's Passing

Kristian Digby passed away on 1 March 2010, at the age of 32. He was living in Newham, London, at the time.
