Kristin Hanggi studied theater in college. She earned her bachelor's degree from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Later, she received her master's degree from the University of Southern California. In 2013, UCLA honored her with a special award for being a distinguished former student.

Theater Work
Kristin Hanggi has directed many plays and musicals. One of her notable early works was Bare: A Pop Opera. This musical won several awards, including the Ovation Award for Best Musical. Kristin herself won awards for Best Director for Bare. She also helped turn this musical into a movie.
She directed Pussycat Dolls Live at the Roxy in 2002. This show helped launch the famous The Pussycat Dolls girl group. Many celebrities like Christina Applegate and Carmen Electra were part of it. Special guests included Gwen Stefani, Christina Aguilera, and Charlize Theron.
Kristin also worked on turning the popular 1995 movie Clueless into a stage musical. This musical played Off Broadway in New York City from late 2018 to early 2019.

Kristin Hanggi started directing movies in 2014. Her first feature film was Grantham & Rose. It starred Jake T. Austin and Marla Gibbs. Her next movie was Naomi and Ely's No Kiss List (2015). This film was based on a popular book by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan. It starred Victoria Justice.
She also adapted and directed a musical TV movie called Dear Dumb Diary. This movie was based on a children's book series. Jerry Zucker was an executive producer for this project.
