Where Kundalini Rises

In the Hindu religion, there's a powerful spiritual energy known as Kundalini. It's believed to be inside everyone, usually sleeping like a coiled snake at the base of the spine. This energy rests near the first chakra, which is like an energy center in the body.

When Kundalini awakens, it's said to move up the spine, passing through other chakras. This process can fill a person's body and mind with incredible energy and deep understanding. People describe this feeling as very special, almost beyond words. Some people try to awaken Kundalini through practices like meditation or yoga. Also, a person who has awakened their Kundalini can sometimes help others by sending them energy. This special transfer of energy is called shaktipat.

What is Kundalini?

Kundalini is a Hindu term for this special energy. However, similar ideas about a powerful, hidden energy exist in many cultures around the world. These different traditions have their own names for this energy.

For example, in Taoism, it's called 'greater kan and li'. In ancient Egypt, it was known as 'sekhem'. The Hebrew tradition speaks of 'shekinah', and some Christians talk about 'Pentecostal fire'. The Kabbalah tradition mentions a 'secret fire', and the Kalahari people refer to it as 'num'. All these ideas share the belief in a powerful, spiritual energy that can be awakened within a person.
