Kundol Lake, also known as Kundol Dand, is a beautiful lake in Pakistan. You can find it in the Swat Valley, in a region called Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It's about 20.8 kilometers (13 miles) north of Kalam. This stunning lake is a popular spot for visitors.
Where is Kundol Lake?
Kundol Lake is nestled high in the Hindu Kush mountains. It sits at an elevation of about 3,032 meters (9,950 feet) above sea level. The lake is north of Utror and is surrounded by tall, snow-covered mountains and huge trees.
The lake gets its water from melting glaciers and natural springs in the Hindu Kush mountains. A large stream flows out from the lake. This stream eventually joins the River Swat in the Kalam Valley.
The Trail to the Lake
The path to Kundol Lake starts from a place called Ladu. It's quite easy to follow because you walk alongside the stream that flows from the lake. As you hike, you'll see lush green forests and amazing views. There are also beautiful waterfalls along the way.
The mountains around Kundol Lake are covered with thick plants and trees. This makes the lake even more beautiful. During the summer, the land around the lake is a great place for campers and trekkers to set up their tents.
How to Get There
You can only visit Kundol Lake during the summer months. In winter, heavy snowfall closes the roads, making it impossible to reach.
To get to the lake, you first need to travel to Kalam. From Kalam, you can take a four-wheel-drive vehicle to Utror. After Utror, you'll reach a small valley called Ladu.
In Ladu Valley, you'll find small huts where you can buy refreshments. From Ladu, it takes about four to six hours of hiking to reach Kundol Lake. The mountains around Ladu are covered with tall cedar and pine trees, adding to the scenic beauty of the journey.
