Kalam is a beautiful valley located in the Swat District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistan. It's a special place where two big rivers, the Gabral and Ushu, meet to form the Swat River.

This valley is about 99 kilometers north of Mingora. It sits high up, around 2,000 meters (about 6,560 feet) above sea level. The valley has a flat area that is used for farming. You can see many tall mountains from Kalam. Some of these include Mount Falak Sar, which is about 5,918 meters (19,416 feet) high.

Kalam's Weather

Kalam has a mild and generally warm climate. It's known as a Humid continental climate. The average temperature in Kalam is about 13.4 degrees Celsius (56.1 degrees Fahrenheit). Each year, it gets about 639 millimeters (25 inches) of rain.

November is usually the driest month, with only about 15 millimeters (0.6 inches) of rain. April is the wettest month, getting around 93 millimeters (3.7 inches) of rain. July is the warmest month, with an average temperature of 24.1 degrees Celsius (75.4 degrees Fahrenheit). January is the coldest month, with an average temperature of 1.5 degrees Celsius (34.7 degrees Fahrenheit).

Amazing Lakes of Kalam Valley

Kalam is home to many stunning glacial lakes. These lakes were formed by ancient glaciers. Two of the most famous lakes in Kalam Valley are Mahodand Lake and Kundol Lake. People visit these lakes often because they are easy to reach.

Other lakes in the area, like Izmis Lake, are harder to get to. You usually need to go on a hike to visit them.

Mahodand Lake

Mahodand Lake is a large and beautiful lake in the Swat Valley. It is about 40 kilometers (25 miles) from Kalam. You can find it in the Usho Sub-valley, right at the base of the mighty Hindu Kush mountains.

Kundol Lake

Another well-known lake in Kalam Valley is Kundol Lake. It is located north of the Utror region, about 19 kilometers (12 miles) from Kalam. Like Mahodand Lake, Kundol Lake is also nestled at the base of the Hindu Kush mountains.
