Kurtistown is a small community in Hawaiʻi County, Hawaii. It is known as a census-designated place (CDP). This means it's an area that the United States Census Bureau defines for gathering population data, but it's not officially a city or town with its own local government.

Kurtistown is located on the big island of Hawaii, in a part called the District of Puna. In 2020, about 2,515 people lived there.

A main road, Hawaii Route 11, goes right through Kurtistown. This road can take you about 10 miles (16 km) north to Hilo, which is a larger city. If you go southwest for about 20 miles (32 km), you'll reach Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, a famous place with active volcanoes!

In 2010, there were 1,298 people living in Kurtistown. This number grew to 2,515 people by the 2020 census.

Many residents were also Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander (9.40%) or identified as being from two or more races (34.05%). About 10.02% of the population identified as Hispanic or Latino.
