Kylie Jayne Palmer, born on February 25, 1990, is an amazing Australian swimmer. She is famous for her freestyle swimming, especially in longer races. She has won many medals for Australia, including Olympic gold!

Early Life and Training
Kylie grew up in Brisbane, Queensland. She went to Grace Lutheran College, where she was a sports leader for her house, Pegasus. She loved swimming for her school in many events.
She trained very hard from a young age. Kylie worked with different coaches, including Ken Wood and John Rodgers. Their guidance helped her become a strong and successful swimmer.
Swimming Achievements
Kylie started making a name for herself in swimming competitions. In 2006, she represented Australia at the 2006 Commonwealth Games. She finished 5th in the 400-meter freestyle race.
Setting Records
In 2007, Kylie set a new Australian and Commonwealth record. This was in the 800-meter freestyle race at the Australian Short Course Championships. She also competed in the 2007 World Aquatics Championships that year.
World Championships Success
Kylie had a fantastic time at the 2008 FINA Short Course World Championships in Manchester. She won four medals there! She earned gold medals in both the 200-meter and 400-meter freestyle races. She also took home a silver medal in the 800-meter freestyle and a bronze medal with her 4×200-meter freestyle relay team.
Olympic Gold Medal
Kylie's hard work paid off when she qualified for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. She won the 800-meter freestyle at the Australian Swimming Championships to earn her spot.
At the Beijing Olympics, on August 14, 2008, Kylie won a gold medal! She was part of the Australian 4×200-meter women's relay team. Her teammates were Stephanie Rice, Bronte Barratt, and Linda MacKenzie. The Australian team swam incredibly fast, beating the world record by almost six seconds! Kylie was the fastest swimmer on her team, helping Australia get a big lead.
More Medals for Australia
Kylie continued to achieve great things in swimming. At the 2010 Commonwealth Games, she won another gold medal in the 200-meter freestyle. She also earned a silver medal in the 400-meter freestyle at the same games.
In 2012, Kylie competed in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. She was part of the Australian 4×200-meter freestyle team again. This time, they won a silver medal, adding another Olympic medal to her collection.
