Kyung Lah is a journalist from South Korea who works for CNN in the United States. She was born on August 27, 1971. Her full name is Kyung I. Lah.

Early Life and School
Kyung Lah was born in Seoul, South Korea. She grew up in Streamwood, Illinois, in the United States. She finished high school in 1989 at Hoffman Estates High School in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.
College Education
After high school, Kyung Lah went to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She studied broadcast journalism and earned her bachelor's degree in 1993. While she was in college, she also wrote for the school's newspaper, the Daily Illini.
Her Career as a Journalist
Kyung Lah started her journalism career in 1993. Her first job was at WBBM-TV in Chicago, where she worked as a desk assistant and field producer.
Early Reporting Jobs
In 1994, she became a reporter who appeared on TV at WWMT-TV in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The next year, in 1995, she moved to San Diego and joined KGTV-TV as a reporter.
In January 2000, Kyung Lah returned to WBBM-TV in Chicago. She worked there again as an on-air reporter.
Moving to Los Angeles
In early 2003, Lah moved to Los Angeles to work at KNBC-TV. At KNBC-TV, she was a morning reporter and also anchored the midday news.
Working for CNN
In late 2005, Kyung Lah joined CNN Newsource. She worked as a correspondent based in Washington, D.C.
In November 2007, Lah became CNN's correspondent in Tokyo, Japan. She often had a Japanese interpreter with her to help with communication. On June 27, 2012, Lah left her job in Japan. She then took a new position at the CNN office in Los Angeles.
Kyung Lah has reported on many different parts of Japanese culture.
Personal Life
Kyung Lah has said that she feels very connected to her South Korean background. In an interview in 2006, she shared that she often thinks about what it means to be Korean.
