Köprülü family facts for kids
The Köprülü family (Turkish: Köprülü ailesi) was a powerful and important family from Albania in the Ottoman Empire. They came from a town called Rudnik, near Berat. This family gave the Ottoman Empire six Grand Viziers, who were like the chief ministers or prime ministers of the empire. Many other family members also became important officers. The time when these Grand Viziers were in charge is even known as the Köprülü era of the Ottoman Empire.
One famous member was Köprülü Abdullah Pasha (1684–1735). He was a general in wars against Persia and governed several areas of the empire. Today, descendants of the family live in Turkey, North Africa (the Maghreb), and the United States. A well-known modern descendant is Mehmet Fuat Köprülü, who was a famous historian of Turkish writing.

Who Were the Köprülü Grand Viziers?
During the history of the Ottoman Empire, the Köprülü Grand Viziers were known for being very active and strong leaders. They helped the empire stay powerful when it might have started to weaken.
