La Conquista del Estado (meaning "The Conquest of the State" in English) was a magazine published in Madrid, Spain. It was a weekly magazine that came out in 1931.

The Story of La Conquista del Estado

How It Started

La Conquista del Estado was started in 1931 by Ramiro Ledesma Ramos. The very first issue was published on March 14, 1931. It included a special statement called a manifesto. This manifesto explained a new political idea called National Syndicalism.

What National Syndicalism Meant

Ramiro Ledesma Ramos wanted to convince the Confederación Nacional del Trabajo (CNT) to adopt his ideas. The CNT was a very powerful trade union movement in Spain at that time. Ledesma Ramos hoped they would support a system called national corporatism. This system would organize society by different groups of workers and employers. The CNT discussed these ideas in the summer of 1931, but they did not approve them.

Ideas and Influences

The magazine was inspired by some ideas from Adolf Hitler. However, the people who started La Conquista del Estado did not agree with Hitler's views on racism. Instead, they believed in the idea of Spain's imperial past. They thought Spain should focus on its history as a powerful empire.

The Team Behind the Magazine

The main people who helped create La Conquista del Estado included Ramiro Ledesma Ramos, who was the president. Juan Aparicio López was the secretary, and Ernesto Giménez Caballero was also a key member. Many other people also helped with the magazine.

This small group of people mostly worked from the universities in Madrid. On October 10, 1931, the group from La Conquista del Estado joined forces with another group. This other group was called the Junta Castellana de Actuación Hispánica and was based in Valladolid. Together, they formed a new political group called the Juntas de Ofensiva Nacional-Sindicalista.

Publication Details

In total, 23 issues of La Conquista del Estado were published during 1931. The magazine usually came out every week. However, it was not published during August and September of that year. The very last issue of the magazine was published on October 24, 1931.
