Lana Jurčević (born November 7, 1984), known internationally as La Lana, is a popular pop singer from Croatia. She released her first album in 2003. Many famous Croatian music artists helped her early in her career. Besides singing, Lana also studied journalism.

Over fifteen years, she has released five studio albums. In January 2020, she started her international music journey. She released her first international song, "So Messed Up", with Warner Music under her new stage name, La Lana.

Early Life

Lana was born on November 7, 1984, in Zagreb, which was then part of Yugoslavia and is now Croatia. Her father, Damir, was Croatian, and her mother, Esma, was Bosniak. From a very young age, Lana loved to sing. She always dreamed of becoming a singer.

Music Career

Starting Out: A Teen Star

In 2003, Lana Jurčević released her first album, called Lana. It included popular songs like "Odlaziš" (You're Leaving) and "Otkad te nema" (Ever Since You're Gone). She also sang a duet with Croatian singer Severina called "Rođena da budem prva" (Born to be first).

In 2004, she performed "Odlaziš" at the Croatian Radio Festival. She also took part in Dora 2004, which is Croatia's competition to choose a song for the Eurovision Song Contest. Her song "Prava istina" (Real Truth) finished sixth. In 2005, her song "Ovo nije istina" won an award for its interesting performance.

In 2006, Lana released her second album, 1 razlog (1 Reason). That same year, she sang a duet with Luka Nižetić called "Prava ljubav" (Real Love). This song became a huge hit and is still one of her most famous songs. In 2007, she represented Croatia at the OGAE Song Contest with "1 razlog". She also competed in Dora again in 2006. Lana also appeared on the TV show Nad lipom 35 and competed in Ples za zvijezdama, the Croatian version of Dancing with the Stars, where she finished second.

In 2008, she released new songs like "Pronađi me" (Find Me) and "Miljama daleko" (Miles Away). Soon after, she released her third album, Volim biti zaljubljena (I Love Being in Love). She also performed at music festivals and covered a traditional Croatian Christmas song.

2010–2019: A New Look and Sound

In March 2010, Lana released the song "Kopija" (Copy). This song was the main single for her album of the same name. In 2012, she released her fourth album, Pobjede i porazi (Victories and Defeats). This album had a more grown-up sound than her earlier music. The next year, she performed the song "La la land" at the CMC Festival. She also worked with the Croatian hip-hop group Connect on a song called "Noć bez granica" (Night Without Limits).

Throughout 2014, she released several songs. One song, "Duša hrvatska" (Croatian Soul), helped raise money for people affected by floods in Southeast Europe. She also released "Majica" (T-shirt) and "Hollywood". In 2015, she released "Od najgorih najbolji" (The Best of the Worst), which was her second duet with Luka Nižetić. That summer, she released "Ludo ljeto" (Crazy Summer), which was very popular.

In 2016, she took part in Tvoje lice zvuči poznato, the Croatian version of Your Face Sounds Familiar, and finished third. In 2017, Lana released her fifth album, Tabu (Taboo). This album received good reviews. It included songs like "Kim Kardashian" and "Daj da plovimo" (Let's Sail). In 2018, she released two more songs, "Usne od milijun watti" (Million Watt Lips) and "Upalimo ljubav" (Let's Turn On Love) with Luka Basi, before taking a break.

2020–Present: International Success

Lana Jurčević returned to music in January 2020. She announced that she had signed a contract with Warner Music. In the same month, she released her first international song, "So Messed Up". She now uses the stage name La Lana for her international music.

Business and Education

Lana completed her studies in journalism at the University of Zagreb. In September 2010, she opened her own dance studio in Zagreb called LA Studio. In June 2018, she started her own brand of natural cosmetics and skincare products called La Piel.

Family Life

Lana Jurčević has been in a relationship with Filip Kratofil since 2017. Filip is the CEO of her company. In December 2023, they welcomed their first child, a daughter named Mayla Lily.
