La Vibora at RCDB |
La Vibora (which means "The Viper") is a cool steel roller coaster at Six Flags Over Texas. You can find it in Arlington, Texas, in the United States. This ride is special because it's a bobsled roller coaster. This means its cars don't run on normal rails. Instead, they zoom through a winding half-pipe track. It feels just like riding a real bobsled!

How La Vibora Got Started
From Olympics to Texas
La Vibora has an interesting past. It first opened at Six Flags Magic Mountain in California. That was in 1984. The ride was called Sarajevo Bobsleds back then. It was named to celebrate the 1984 Winter Olympics.
Moving to a New Home
The ride was part of a special program. Six Flags used to move rides between its parks. So, after just two seasons, the bobsled ride closed at Magic Mountain in 1986. The land it was on was used for a new coaster.
That same year, the bobsled ride was moved. It traveled all the way to Six Flags Over Texas. It opened there in 1987. Its new name was Avalanche Bobsled.
Becoming The Viper
Later, the ride got its current name, La Vibora. This name means "The Viper" in Spanish. The ride was also painted to look like a snake. This new look matched the "Spain" section of the park better.
Where the Cars Came From
Did you know the cars on La Vibora have their own history? They originally came from another bobsled ride. That ride was called the Bob Track. It was located at a park called Efteling in the Netherlands.
