La Victoria de Acentejo is a lovely town and a local area (called a municipality) found on the northern side of Tenerife, one of the beautiful Canary Islands in Spain. It sits close to the northern coast. The town is about 2 kilometers southwest of La Matanza de Acentejo and 7 kilometers northeast of La Orotava. It is also about 22 kilometers west of the island's capital city, Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
A main road, the TF-5 motorway, runs through the municipality, making it easy to travel around. In 2013, about 9,069 people lived here. The total area of La Victoria de Acentejo is 18.36 square kilometers.

Before the Spanish Arrived
Long ago, before people from Spain came to Tenerife, the area where La Victoria de Acentejo is now was part of a native kingdom. This kingdom was called menceyato of Taoro. A menceyato was like a small kingdom ruled by a chief called a mencey.
The Battles of Acentejo
The area is famous for two important battles that happened in 1494. These were the First Battle of Acentejo and the Second Battle of Acentejo.
The First Battle: A Difficult Start
In the first battle, Spanish soldiers led by Alonso Fernández de Lugo faced a tough defeat. This happened in a place now known as La Matanza de Acentejo. The name "La Matanza" means "The Slaughter," which tells you how difficult that battle was for the Spanish.
The Second Battle: A Spanish Victory
However, the second battle brought a different result. This time, the Spanish soldiers won. After this important victory, the town of La Victoria de Acentejo was founded. The name "La Victoria" means "The Victory" in Spanish, celebrating this important moment in history.
