The Lac du Moulin (which means Lake of the Mill in English) is a beautiful body of water in Quebec, Canada. It's part of the Rivière du Moulin and Saguenay River system. This lake is found in a special area called Lac-Pikauba, which is part of the Charlevoix Regional County Municipality. It's also located in the northern part of the Laurentides Wildlife Reserve, a large protected area.
The area around Lac du Moulin is mostly served by a forest road called R0287. This road helps people get around the east and north sides of the lake. It connects to Route 175, which is a main road between Quebec City and Saguenay. Other smaller forest roads are also used for activities like logging and outdoor fun.
The main activity in this region is forestry, which means cutting down trees for wood. Tourism, like visiting for recreation, is the second most important activity.
The surface of Lac du Moulin usually freezes over in early December. It's generally safe to walk or play on the ice from mid-December until mid-spring.

Discovering Lac du Moulin
Lac du Moulin is about 1.8 km (1.1 mi) long and 0.4 km (0.25 mi) wide. It sits at an elevation of 907 m (2,976 ft) above sea level. This lake is nestled within the Laurentides Wildlife Reserve, which is part of the big Laurentian Mountains. The lake has a narrow section, about a hundred meters wide, where two pieces of land almost meet from the east and west sides.
Water Sources and Flow
Lac du Moulin gets its water mainly from two places. One is the outlet from Lake Andrevos, which flows in from the southeast. The other is a stream that comes from the east.
The water from Lac du Moulin flows out into the Rivière du Moulin. This river then travels about 82.2 km (51.1 mi) generally north. After that, it joins the Saguenay River, which flows eastward for about 126.1 km (78.4 mi) all the way to Tadoussac. At Tadoussac, the Saguenay River merges with the huge Saint Lawrence estuary.
