Lacona is a small village in Oswego County, New York, United States. It is part of the town of Sandy Creek. Lacona is located about halfway between the cities of Syracuse and Watertown. In 2020, the village had a population of 657 people.
History of Lacona
The area where Lacona is located was first settled around the year 1803. Later, in 1880, Lacona officially became an organized village. This means it got its own local government and rules.
Several important buildings in Lacona are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This is a special list of places in the United States that are important for their history or architecture. Some of these buildings include the Smith H. Barlow House, the First National Bank of Lacona, and the Lacona Clock Tower. Other notable places are the Lacona Railroad Station and Depot, the Charles M.
