A Glimpse into History
Laguna has an interesting past that goes back a long time. A very large piece of land, about 1000 acres (which is roughly 400 hectares), was given to a person named Heneage Finch. This type of gift of land was called a "land grant."
Mr. Finch decided to name this big piece of land "Laguna." Today, you can still find a historic building called Laguna House. It is located just south of the main Laguna area, right on the old Great North Road. This road was once a very important route for travel.
