Lake Angelus is a private lake in Oakland County, Michigan. It covers about 477 acres and is a popular spot for many water sports. The small community of Lake Angelus is located right on the lake's shores.

Most of Lake Angelus is found within the city of Auburn Hills. However, a small part of the western side of the lake extends into Waterford Township.

This lake is quite special! It is the ninth-largest lake in Oakland County. It is also the eighth-deepest lake in the county, reaching a maximum depth of 88 feet.

From Three Mile Lake to Lake Angelus

In the early 1900s, this beautiful body of water was known by a different name: Three Mile Lake. It kept this name for several years.

Later, during the 1920s, the lake was officially renamed Lake Angelus. This new name was given by a woman named Mrs. Sollace B. Collidge. It's cool to think that one person could give a lake such a lasting name!
